New Hutches & shed are planned for 2010
My Set Up
I have 2 House Rabbits and the rest of my rabbits are housed outside in either 4ft or 5ft hutches.
This is the patio area.
As you can see the rabbits have taken over it!
This area is down the side of my house.
It is sheltered down here so this is where I have most of my breeding does.
At night all the hutches are covered up.
In the warmer months the hutches are just covered with Tarp.
In the colder months I cover them with old blankets or curtains under the tarp to keep my rabbits nice and warm.
I have 5 runs for my rabbits so they can all be out of their hutches for part of the day.
Like I said before we have 2 house rabbits.
Holly-Bunny lives upstairs in the girls bedroom.
She has free run in the day and is locked in her hutch at night.
We have a child safety gate on the bedroom door, this was to stop her from coming out of the bedroom. But most of the time this is now left open as she has never come out - I think it's something to do with the step. Many a time we have seen her pop her head out to see what is going on downstairs!
Holly-Bunny gets on well with the dogs as well as the cats.
As you can see she lets Willow sleep in her bed during the day.
Holly-Bunny not only shares the bedroom with my girls but also the Piggies (Guinea Pigs) Lu, Titania & Dawin, which Holly-Bunny loves and the hamsters as well.
We plan to make a big C&C cage unit for Holly-Bunny and the Piggies under my Holly's bed - of course Holly-Bunny will still have the free run of the room but she can be that little bit closer to her piggy's at night.
(Seperate cages still, just in one big multi level unit. I don't believe in having rabbits and guinea pigs living together full time.)
We also have a new house rabbit that lives downstair. Stanley isn't a new rabbit - he used to live outside! After my British Giant house rabbit Rocky died it just wasn't the same. So Stanley is the lucky one that got picked to come inside to live.
At present he doesn't get the full run of downstairs as he need to get used to the dogs, cats and of course house rules!
Stanley hasn't been in for long but he has been a very good boy so far.
He will also get a C&C cage unit built especially for him.
If you are not sure what a C&C cage is then GOGGLE it!
There are some really good site about with great ideas for making your own.
A house rabbit is just as much fun as an outdoors rabbit!
